"Cyclic came about from playing around with the newest version of Reason and the powerful Thor synth included with it. It's also the first track that I've properly used Logic, recording the audio into it straight from Reason. However, all the effects and sound generation were still done in Reason, which is coming along nicely with each new version.

The percussion is me playing around with melodic drums and cross rhythms, though the general vibe of the track is probably more due to the relaxed mood I was in. It has a contemplative feeling for sure. There was definitely some inspiration from listening to Sleeparchive, though I'm not sure the finished result bears much resemblance. I had also recenty heard a track where someone had been pitching the bass drum up and down, which seemed like an interesting thing to play around with.

Having made a lot of alternate versions of Cyclic now, I think my favourite mixes of this track are the ones without the pads. Particularly the 'tool' that I used in my podcast for MNML SSG (listen here). Although, the beats version works nicely in my live sets, as it's stripped down nature cuts through well in a club setting."
